Pulp and Paper
TTC Canada has been engaged in the pulp and paper industry since its inception, supplying quality‑control and process‑control systems grounded in a philosophy that enables mills to operate and maintain their installations independently. Our core objective has always been to reduce total cost of ownership for our clients. To achieve this, we introduced a system‑integration methodology into a market traditionally dominated by proprietary, black‑box quality‑control platforms—initially through the adoption of generic programmable logic controllers and smart sensors in the 1990s, followed by early deployment of wireless communication technologies and remote‑support capabilities in the early 2000s.
Today, we collaborate with equipment manufacturers and mill operators to enhance energy efficiency, modernize measurement and control infrastructure with advanced digital solutions, and support the sector’s transition toward IIoT‑enabled operations and Industry 4.0 architectures.
We continue to support existing installations and assist peer companies in expanding the market reach of their products and services within designated territories. In this capacity, we are collaborating with OpTest Equipment Inc. (www.optest.com) and Tasowheel Oy (www.tasowheel.fi) to advance the deployment of their respective technologies.
OpTest manufactures the On‑machine Dirt In‑speck‑tor (ODI), the industry’s only TAPPI‑ and ISO‑compliant online visible‑dirt analyzer. The ODI provides continuous, standardized measurement of contaminants directly on the pulp or paper machine, enabling mills to strengthen quality control, reduce process variability, and improve operational efficiency.
Tasowheel supplies complete quality‑control systems (QCS), including advanced control and instrumentation solutions for cross‑direction (CD) profile control of basis weight and moisture in pulp and paper machines. Their systems enhance sheet uniformity, stabilize production, and support higher levels of automation and process optimization.
