Energy

Our experience in the energy sector is rooted in our long-standing involvement with dendroenergy—energy derived from trees—within the pulp and paper industry, where wood chips are used to cogenerate heat and power. We apply the same principles to geothermal energy, which harness heat from the earth to generate electricity and produce useful thermal energy.

Because cogeneration delivers some of the highest efficiencies in the energy landscape, we actively explore its use wherever conditions allow. This perspective shapes our holistic approach to power generation: we evaluate both supply and demand dynamics to identify opportunities where renewable resources can reliably meet energy needs, whether through electricity, heat, or integrated systems that provide both.

We also embrace distributed energy solutions as a complement to traditional centralized models. Our goal is to determine the optimal mix of technologies that maximize energy.

Our services encompass comprehensive identification and characterization of energy opportunities and system constraints that influence the availability, reliability, resilience, and cost‑effectiveness of electricity supply, as well as thermal energy for space and water heating across community, institutional, and industrial sectors. In addition, we provide specialized advisory and engineering services for the design, modeling, and performance assessment of medium‑ and large‑scale biomass and geothermal power and heat generation facilities.
